I Like Movies (the "app") is a movie-tracking and recommendation app operated by Alexandru Crăciun, based in Romania ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses the app, anywhere in the world.

What we collect and why

• Account details — your name and email address from Google Sign-In. Used to create and identify your account. We never receive your Google password.
• Things you create in the app — your ratings, reviews, notes, lists, watchlist, friend connections, household membership, and the messages you send to the in-app assistant (including their text and any image you choose to attach). Stored so the app can show them back to you and your friends.
• Photos you add — a profile photo, and any image you attach to an assistant chat. Stored on our server.
• Your country — the country you set, used to show which streaming services carry a title where you are.
• Notification token — a device push token, used only to deliver the notifications you enable.
• Voice messages — when you dictate a message, your phone transcribes the speech using your device's speech service and the app receives only the resulting text. We do not record or store your audio.
• Technical data — your IP address and basic request logs, used to keep the service running, secure, and free of abuse.

We do not access your phone's contacts, and we do not collect location beyond the country you choose.

Legal bases (EU/UK GDPR)

• To provide the app — performance of our agreement with you.
• To keep it secure and prevent abuse — our legitimate interests.
• Notifications and other optional features — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the app. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Provider	What it handles
Google (Sign-In)	Verifies your identity and gives us your name and email.
The Movie Database (TMDB) & OMDb	Movie and TV metadata. We send title queries and your country to look up details and streaming availability.
Anthropic (Claude)	Powers the in-app assistant. The text (and any image) you send to the assistant is processed to generate a reply.
Render	Hosts our application and database in the European Union (Frankfurt).
Expo	Delivers push notifications to your device.
Sentry	Collects crash and error diagnostics so we can fix problems.

International transfers

Your data is stored in the European Union. Some of our providers (for example Google, Anthropic, Sentry and Expo) are based in the United States, so providing the app may involve transferring some data there. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' standard data-protection safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we permanently erase your account and the data tied to it. Residual copies in encrypted backups are removed on the normal backup rotation (within 30 days).

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data, and object to or restrict certain processing. If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, these are your GDPR rights; if you're in California, we confirm we do not sell or share your personal information. To exercise any right, use the in-app controls or email us (below).

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account in the app — this permanently erases your account and associated data immediately. If you can't sign in, you can request deletion at our account-deletion page or by emailing us.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to our systems is restricted, and the assistant has no ability to act outside the app on your behalf.

Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change and revise the date at the top.
